The Bahrain Stud Book Volume 5 covering the period 2002-2005 was published last year. The Arabian horse population in the Kingdom of
Bahrain has seen a quantum increase in recent times, due to large foal crops and to imports. The total number of living Arabians in Bahrain is estimated at 1,500. There were 90 foals registered in 2006, in 2007 so far just to the end of April we have already registered 43.
We have DNA typed all our breeding stock, all foals from the season 2003 are already DNA typed and parent verified, and also all Bahrain-born
foals are now micro-chipped.
Equestrian activities are a great tradition in the Kingdom of Bahrain and are actively supported by the Royal Stud and by the Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federations. The Equestrian Horse Racing Club holds 26 race meetings each season, each meeting holds at least one race for purebred Arabians. The Bahrain Endurance Federation organizes 12 endurance events each season, and also we held the very successful Sheikh Faisal bin Hamad Al Khalifa National Arabian Horse Show in 2006, 2007 and 2008. Alongside this, Bahrain Arabians are shown at festivals and exhibitions demonstrating the beauty and nobility of the breed.
