“The Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games 2010 in Kentucky will represent the largest equine sporting event ever held in the United States. Held at the Kentucky Horse Park from September 25 to October 10, 2010, this will be the first time that the event will be held outside of Europe.”
“The Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games 2010 are comprised of the world championships for eight equestrian sports – show jumping, dressage, eventing, driving, endurance, vaulting, reining and para-equestrian. The FEI World Equestrian Games are held every four years, two years prior to the Olympic Games, and are governed by the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI). The FEI is the international governing body of equestrian sport recognized by the International Olympic Committee. It is the organization which establishes rules and regulations for the conduct of international equestrian events. Today the FEI has over 130 member countries.”
The Akhal-Teke Breeders Co-op is organizing an Akhal-Teke promotional booth at the 2010 World Equestrian Games held at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky. This group is a number of Akhal-Teke owners and breeders who want to showcase our breed at the first ever World Games held in the US. This is an incredible opportunity for our horses to be seen by an anticipated 800,000 spectators from around the globe.
The cost is formidable; $9000 for a 10 x 10 booth for the 16 days of the Games. While this price may seem steep, if you divide the cost by 16 days, it is only $563 a day to show our fabulous horses to approximately 800,000 people! The Exhibitor tents will be in the ‘Equine Village” to be located within the center of the Kentucky Horse Park. The Village will become a ‘destination’, offering world class entertainment, educational activities and lectures, as well as food and drink. The well planned walkways, landscaping and availability of multiple rings will allow a festive environment that will attract visitors. The location will include a portion of the dressage complex in the center of the racetrack, the Breeds Arena and the walkways and grass areas located between the covered arena and the Big Barn. Exhibitor tents will have a prime location positioned along the outside of the racetrack. Demonstrations will be held in the dressage complex in the center of the racetrack and the Breeds Arena. The arrangement of the Equine Village enables exhibitors and demonstrators to have maximum exposure during the Games.
For us to take advantage of this once in a lifetime opportunity, we need to reserve our booth immediately, with $4500 down and $4500 due on April 1st, 2010. There are some booths left, but they are going fast.
We propose that all Akhal-Teke breeders, owners and enthusiasts take advantage of this opportunity. This is a worldwide event and we’d like to have worldwide participation. Right now, we are taking pledges to see if we can reach $4500 within the next week and then we will reserve a booth. As we don’t know exactly what the rules are for the booths at this time, we are accepting ideas, but do not have a firm plan for the booth decoration and participation. All monies will go toward the booth cost and possibly promotional materials. If the booth does not happen, all monies will be returned, minus any online fees (such as paypal fees). At this point, we already have $1200 pledged – let’s get the entire $9000 now, so we can concentrate on our presentation and promotional information!
Please show your support for our beloved breed by pledging whatever you can afford. The more people that help out, the better! Please send this to whoever you think might be interested, other chat lists, overseas associations, etc.
Please contact Cathy Leddy at c.leddy@verizon. net to pledge or for further details.
