Dark buckskin stallion Gajgysyz was born in 1988 in a studfram “Komsomol” (now Niyazov) from Karaman and Syjagul, daughters of Angar. He belongs to almost extinct line Bek Nazar Al - Posman.
Also, by the way, he was named the first head of the Soviet Turkmen republic - Gajgysyz Atabaev.
The destiny of stallions on the sire’s line in pedigree of Gajgysyz abounds with fortuities alternately with tragedies. The great-great-grandfather of Gajgysyz, 742 Kermek 7, has come to Turkmenistan from Kazakhstan, and in kolkhoz “it. Lenin†Geok-Tepinsky area (now “Turkmenistan”) in 1965 from him was born 882 Kalkan. And for a long time traces of this line have been lost.
In the beginning of my work with breed in 1973, at the next inspection of a livestock in this kolkhoz we have found out colt Kermek 2nd, which was born in 1971 from aged parents Kalkan and Tovshan, born 1950. He was small (hardly 150 cm in withers), but very typical and with correct conformation. We have persuaded to moved him on a hippodrome. He raced till 5 years 22 times and won 7 times. We suggested to take him as cover stallion on different studfarm, but they refused. Then he was bought by the Ashkhabad hippodrome. To him in “wife” have got two mares from the Maryjsky studfarm - Fialka and Pachta. From this union at Pachta was born magnificent filly Pejker, and at Fialka - colt Karaman.
After that it was possible to persuade, and more truly to impose to take to collective farm “40 years TSSR” Kermek 2nd in breeding structure. They took him, but did not use and in 1979 he was returned. From collective farm to a hippodrome he has passed the course (what pace - it is not known) of about 20 kilometers. And for other day the stallion has died.
Pejker has appeared very difficult in covering and most part of life she was barren. She traveled on different studfarms, and now “has settled” on a studfarm “Akhalt-yurt”. In 1999 she had colt Akpatu from Akbelek (line Everdy Teleke).
The destiny of Karaman is even more tragic. At inept breaking he has been strongly injured - the right hind leg has practically been split to a bone. Although there was not much hope, he has survived and did not limp at all, but was no longer able to race.
We made really heroic efforts to put him as stallions in studfarm “Komsomol”. Him offspring has appeared typical, efficient enough, but small and in this studfarm Karaman he was used restrictedly.
Here now we will return to Gajgysyz. At a birth his typicalness was highly appreciated. On start he go all once in “the Trial prize” in which remained without prize-winning places. And he would be gone in uncertainty, if not fortuity. The private owner from Russia - Potokin Valery has arrived to buy Akhal-teke in Turkmenistan. He bargain for stallion Sak and some mares in studfram “Komsomol”, has paid for them money, but these horses to him have not given. Then in the next arrival, when to him have offered on a choice small party of stallions, he has chosen two horses, whom he liked, and has shipped them in the truck. He had chosen Gajgysyz and Dzheihun, which had a wild and spiteful reputation and stood in box almost in a hole, which has dug almost for a year of solitary life. Both stallions did not differ fatness and after the arrival to Russia certain time was required to put them in order.
As at Mr. Potokin there were no so much mares, that is high-grade to use these stallions, he has agreed to put them in the Stavropol studfarm. And semen of Gajgysyz has fallen to a fertile field - Champions of exhibitions “fell down” in abundance: Galabeg, Mangyt, Murghab, Salyr, Nuker, and two from them have already moved to live to Kazakhstan, home of great-great-grandfather. And already with all evidence clearly, that our diligence have not gone to waste and old line Bek Nazar Al - Posman has revived by a new life.
